Read-Me

[As of July 2, 2009]

Enuh Iglesias is a Filipino writing in English, a UP student since 1998 (with 2 degrees (!) to her credit, and another underway), a lawyer, former teacher and a freelance writer.

Because she's not comfortable trying to summarize who she is and what she is about in a couple of self-indulgent paragraphs, the author hereby refers to herself in the third person. Of course, the way she is describing herself and her writing is not to undermine the seriousness of her passion for the craft, she is by nature self-deprecating and a little ironic when it comes to her writing. In other words, she's trying to sound cool! (hehe)

Prior to her enrollment (at last!) in UP's MA Creative Writing program, she has had a long standing on and off love affair with the written word. "On-and-off" meaning she has been published many times in different places (though her earliest works were all written under silly pseudonyms), tried her hand at putting together a literary folio, got up in front of mostly strangers to read her poems at Mag:Net's Happy Mondays Poetry Reading sessions, even made some money off it, but for some reason or another, spent 4 years in law school, took the Bar and joined the great grand circle of lawyers in the Philippines but can't stand the thought of traditional practice... only to come full circle and make an honest man out of her very patient and understanding lover, and learn the ropes, express herself, and just do what she really wants for a change.

So she struck a deal with the other "jealous" one, and she's doing both - work in local legislation and creative writing. After all, she is in her late twenties (*cringes*) and can't always use the "quarter life" crisis excuse all the way to the big 3-0.

She started out with fantasies of a bottom dweller, her first weblog, moved up to sharkbait and now she's back to being fodder for the big fish out there. She doesn't know how to polka but hopes that plankton do.
